Job Summary
Quality Manager at MATALCO's Franklin, KY facility leads technical services to identify and implement opportunities for improved process control and end product quality in cast-house manufacturing. Maintains ISO 9001 Certification and applies continuous improvement methodologies (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints) to develop, plan, and implement process or product improvements that reduce scrap and standardize DC casting. Oversees data collection systems for process monitoring, coaches quality technicians and production on QMS and continuous improvement techniques, and drives data-driven improvements to achieve productivity and yield gains. Requires a BS/MS in metallurgy, materials science, mechanical engineering, or related field and five years of manufacturing experience with direct reports; strong analytical, data analysis, and communication skills; knowledge of QMS/ISO and customer requirements.
Required Qualifications
- BS or MS in metallurgy, material science, mechanical engineering, or related field or equivalent experience preferred
- Five years of manufacturing experience with at least two years of managing direct reports
- Subject matter expertise in process control and improvement techniques (Six Sigma, Lean, etc.)
- Solid knowledge of the casting process and molten metal processes
- Strong analytical skills with knowledge of statistical data analysis
- Good understanding of QMS, ISO and applying customer requirements to process
- Proven skills in data acquisition, analysis, and report writing
- Effective communication and organizational skills, along with a proven ability to work as part of a team
