Job Summary
Conduct chemical and physical analysis on raw materials, finished batches, and packaging to determine material status. Perform production line checks, secure seal, closure torque, and can seam evaluations to ensure equipment application and operation. Evaluate finished products against standards through audits monitoring packaging integrity and stop questionable production immediately. Maintain accurate records of all tests, retests, and reports while ensuring proper calibration of laboratory equipment. Adhere to health and safety policies, GMPs, and SQF standards by wearing required PPE in the warehouse or production areas. Report out-of-specification results to leadership and complete special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Adhere to all health and safety policies/procedures
- Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) while in warehouse or production areas
- Wear hairnets/beard nets
- Wear safety glasses
- Wear hearing protection
- Wear hard toe and slip/oil resistant shoes
- Wear appropriate safety gloves
- Wear seatbelts while operating forklifts
- Adhere to food quality and food safety as per standard(s) provided by corporate, customer, and/or governing bodies
- Ensure all products conform to customer specifications as outlined in SAP system
- Perform analysis on raw materials, finished batches, treated water and/or any other programmed outlines by the department
- Conduct chemical and physical analysis on raw and intermediate processing materials including packaging materials
- Determine status of materials as acceptable or unacceptable
- Evaluate finished products against current standards by performing audits
- Monitor all aspects of finished product and packaging integrity
- Check process control parameters to assure proper equipment application and operation
- Perform secure seal checks
- Perform closure torque checks
- Perform can seam checks
- Stop production which may be questionable in terms of Food Safety
- Immediately alert a member of the management team
- Maintain accurate, legible records of all tests and retests performed
- Complete all other required reports (work orders, action reports, etc.) in a timely manner
- Perform analytical tests required to qualify ingredient batches for production
- Perform production line checks at specified intervals
- Ensure accurate test results by maintaining proper operation and calibration of laboratory equipment
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness at all times
- Report all out of specification results to designated leadership
- Complete special projects and other reasonable duties as assigned by leadership
- Highschool diploma or equivalent
- 1 – 3 years of experience in Quality within a manufacturing environment
- In plants co-packaging alcoholic beverages, must be at least 21 years old
- Weekdays, weekends, afternoon, evening, and overnight availability
- Overtime availability as needed

- Exposure to using measurement tools and equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMM machines)

- Familiarity with SQF

- Familiarity with GMP
- Familiarity with other relevant standards and regulations

- Able to read and understand metric system
- Food or beverage laboratory experience
