Job Summary
Manage Stellant System's Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure AS9100 compliance through root cause analysis using 8D, DMAIC, and 5Why methodologies. Lead internal audits, maintain controlled workspace specifications, and oversee the ESD program to meet ANSI/ESD S20.20 requirements. Process Engineering Change Notices, develop KPI dashboards for quality performance, and prepare the organization for external audits from customers and regulators. Coordinate corrective actions across departments and generate executive reports on trends and risks. Located in Torrance, CA, this role requires 5+ years of experience in aerospace quality engineering.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of Quality or Manufacturing Engineering experience
- preference for experience in an aerospace environment
- ability to lead Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) using 8D, DMAIC, 5Why, Fishbone or equivalent methodologies
- ability to assign, track, and follow up with CAR owners to ensure timely closure and robust containment
- ability to perform verification of effectiveness (VOE) and ensure objective evidence is documented and audit ready
- ability to maintain CAR metrics, aging reports, and trend analyses for leadership review
- ability to maintain and publish the AS9100 internal audit schedule, ensuring full clause coverage annually
- ability to serve as Lead Internal Auditor, conducting process audits, product audits, and system audits
- ability to train and mentor internal auditors; maintain auditor competency records
- ability to issue audit reports, track audit findings, and verify corrective action implementation
- ability to develop and maintain Key Performance Indicator (KPI) dashboards for quality performance, escapes, supplier performance, and cost of poor quality (COPQ)
- ability to generate executive level reports summarizing trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement
- ability to use data analytics to identify systemic issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- ability to support monthly/quarterly business reviews with data driven insights
- ability to review and approve Engineering Change Notices for quality impact, configuration control, and documentation accuracy
- ability to ensure changes are properly flowed into inspection plans, work instructions, and quality records
- ability to validate that affected departments implement changes without disruption to product conformity
- ability to maintain traceability and revision control for quality related documents
- ability to serve as the ESD Program Owner, ensuring compliance with ANSI/ESD S20.20 requirements
- ability to maintain ESD control plans, training records, audits, and calibration/verification of ESD equipment
- ability to lead investigations of ESD related nonconformances and implement corrective actions
- ability to coordinate with Facilities, Operations, and Engineering to ensure proper grounding, flooring, and workstation controls
- ability to serve as the owner of all controlled workspace requirements, ensuring compliance with internal specifications, customer requirements, and applicable standards for environmental control
- ability to maintain and update controlled workspace specifications, including temperature, humidity, particulate control, and cleanliness levels
- ability to ensure all environmental requirements are documented, controlled, and traceable within the QMS
- ability to maintain cleanroom classification documentation and ensure adherence to gowning, entry/exit, and housekeeping protocols
- ability to conduct periodic cleanroom audits and coordinate corrective actions for deficiencies
- ability to coordinate updates to procedures and work instructions based on ECNs, corrective actions, audit findings, or process changes with process owners
- ability to maintain a periodic review schedule aligned with AS9100 requirements and internal policy
- ability to facilitate cross functional reviews to confirm procedures reflect current processes and controls
- ability to serve as a key leader in preparing the organization for external audits conducted by customers, AS9100 registrars, prime contractors, and regulatory agencies
- ability to coordinate pre audit readiness reviews with process owners
- ability to ensure all required documentation, records, KPIs, and objective evidence are complete, current, and controlled
- ability to validate that corrective actions from prior audits are closed and verified
- ability to generate post audit reports including findings, strengths, risks, and systemic improvement recommendations
- U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S. (e.g. Green Card holder), or a protected individual as defined by the International Traffic in Arm Regulations (ITAR)
Desired Qualifications
- ASQ certifications: CQE, CMQ/OE, CQA, or CRE
- Lead Auditor certification for AS9100
- Experience with NADCAP, DCMA, or major prime contractor audits
- Experience developing KPI dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent
