Quality Supervisor (2nd Shift) - Early Talent

Job Summary

Supervise up to 10-15 quality gate auditors on the 2nd shift for the Lafayette Assembly Operations team, ensuring safe maximization of efficiency in quality, velocity, and cost. Monitor shop floor safety, eliminate unsafe operations, and determine processing needs to assure fixtures, tooling, and methods meet schedules. Tie-in daily with production management to designate workload, priorities, and sequences, while evaluating team performance, providing coaching, and conducting disciplinary procedures as required. Suggest changes to increase efficiency, improve processes, and reduce costs by eliminating non-value-added activities. Ensure product conformity to Caterpillar Quality Management System standards, implement corporate initiatives like 5S and Lean Manufacturing, and manage training, attendance tracking, and personnel assignments. Report to the 1st shift Quality Manager and support supplier quality and certification coordination efforts.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduated from an accredited university within the last TWO years or a future graduation by Dec. 2026
  • Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques
  • Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis
  • Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources
  • Understanding and insight into evaluating current product quality and production methods
  • Knowledge of manufacturing operations
  • Knowledge of manufacturing safety
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Willing to work outside of normal work hours including overtime and alternative shifts
  • Support the latter end of 2nd shift
  • Less than 10% travel
  • Working onsite five days a week
  • Successful completion of a drug screen
  • Must demonstrate good interpersonal skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Achieved a professional certification (ASQ, SME, etc.)
  • Experience working within an extended value stream methodology with cross departmental collaboration amongst operations, quality, manufacturing engineering, design engineering, supply chain & maintenance
  • Experience with 3500, 3600, and/or C175 Engines and component manufacturing, dyno test, or other assembly areas
  • Experience in a team Lead, certification coordinator, quality audit gates, or supervisory role in assembly operations, or operations quality
