Quality Nurse/Medical Records Nurse

Job Summary

Oversee clinical quality, patient safety, and health information management functions by integrating QAPI activities with medical record integrity and regulatory compliance. Conduct clinical audits, develop and track quality metrics, and implement corrective action plans to improve outcomes while ensuring alignment with CMS Conditions of Participation and The Joint Commission standards. Manage the HIM department's operational oversight, including chart assembly approvals, monitoring physician documentation deficiencies, and ensuring secure storage of medical records. Facilitate performance improvement committee activities, support root cause analyses, and coordinate release of information processes in accordance with HIPAA requirements. Maintain policies and procedures to ensure ongoing readiness for surveys and audits, promoting a culture of continuous improvement across the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current nursing license
  • Minimum 2 years clinical nursing experience

Desired Qualifications

  • BSN preferred
  • prior experience in Quality Improvement, Risk Management, or Infection Control
  • CPHQ (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality)
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient in EMR systems and data reporting tools
  • Ability to educate and mentor clinical staff on quality practices
  • Knowledge of CMS, Joint Commission, and state regulatory standards
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat
