Job Summary
Manage the Quality Management System, including the Quality Manual and supporting documents, ensuring compliance with INAB, ISO 17025, and regulatory requirements across all laboratory activities. Lead training, supervision, and support for departmental implementation of quality systems while proactively assisting management with technical and operational development. Maintain accreditation by acting as liaison with regulatory bodies, coordinating external audits, and managing internal audit schedules including test method witness audits. Drive process improvement, digitalisation, and equipment calibration coordination while monitoring quality control systems to initiate root cause analysis for any failures. Coordinate submissions for scope extensions, manage the Document Control system, and lead monthly Quality Meetings and Annual Management Reviews.
Required Qualifications
- Degree level qualification or equivalent in Chemistry, Food Science or other relevant subject
- Be working towards/have full membership of a relevant professional body
- Trained Auditor with relevant practical experience
- Experience of Quality Management Systems operating to ISO 17025
- Practical analytical chemistry experience ideally in a high volume contract laboratory or food industry
- Experience of working with ISO 17025 either in a laboratory or QA role
- Good working knowledge of contract testing laboratory activities as relevant to the food, dairy, water and environmental sectors
- Thorough understanding of quality system and accreditation requirements with a proven ability to apply technical knowledge
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, organise and co-ordinate both your own workload
- Skills to influence others to achieve common goals for the benefit of our customers
- Confident approach with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Good communication skills both internally and externally
- Ability to understand customers' requirements and to be able to devise and articulate the most appropriate solution
- Ability to form strong working relationships with colleagues, regulators and customers
- Full time role working 39 hours a week, Monday to Friday 09:00 till 17:30
Desired Qualifications
- Practical analytical chemistry experience ideally in a high volume contract laboratory or food industry is preferable
- Strong technical, troubleshooting, report writing and statistical skills would be an advantage
