Job Summary
Oversee construction quality across Georgia Power Hydro sites by developing quality plans, conducting onsite surveillances, and auditing contractor work against codes and specifications. Review inspection and test plans, redline engineering drawings, and submittals to ensure compliance with ASME, AWS, and other industry standards. Identify hold and witness points, report non-conformances, and recommend corrective actions while participating in pre-bid and contractor meetings. This three-year contract requires travel between Columbus and Lakemont sites and applies to candidates with CWI/AWS certification and 10+ years in construction quality assurance.
Required Qualifications
- CWI/AWS certification required
- 10+ years in construction quality assurance or quality control oversight
- Must be flexible and proactive to support emergent site needs
- Must be available for travel between multiple hydro sites
- Must be able to work in industrial and construction environments
- Must adhere to strict safety protocols
Desired Qualifications
- 4-year technical degree in Engineering, Construction, or related discipline preferred
- Equivalent industry experience may be considered
- Experience with weld inspection, mapping, and quality surveillances strongly preferred
- AMPP/NACE certification a plus
- Strong knowledge of QA/QC processes, inspection strategies, and methodologies
- Familiarity with welding, coatings, and materials inspections
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently or in a team environment
