Job Summary
Conduct thorough examinations, detailed inspections, and physical and metallurgical tests on semi-finished components, fasteners, and raw materials to assess compliance with customer specifications, production drawings, and industry standards. Perform precision dimensional inspections using measuring equipment, verify gauge accuracy, and maintain inspection reports and records. Execute mechanical testing procedures including tensile, shear, and fatigue tests while ensuring all equipment is calibrated and safety protocols are followed. Coordinate inspection activities with production leads, review calibration certifications, and assist the Preliminary Material Review Team in dispositioning rejection tags. Train less skilled employees on specific techniques and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent education
- Minimum 5-8 years of metallurgical or physical laboratory experience
- Understanding of test equipment and lab procedures
- Or a combination of inspection and lab procedures
- Basic mainframe computer systems
- Familiar with Spreadsheet and Word Processing software
- Database systems
- Ability to perform basic mathematical functions, (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
- Ability to perform these operations using units and weight measurement, volume, and distance
- Ability to deal with problems
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of college-level mathematics, metallographic, or mechanical engineering
