Job Summary
Inspect machined aerospace and commercial parts using surface plates, calipers, micrometers, and optical comparators to verify conformance to drawings and work orders. Perform in-process visual and dimensional inspections, document non-conformances per prescribed procedures, and interact proactively with production to reduce defects. Support quality management system policies, review certifications, and lead continual improvement and Lean manufacturing initiatives. Work onsite in Hawthorne, CA, with a requirement to lift 25 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work overtime or weekends as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 2+ years of quality inspection experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment
- 1+ years of experience with blueprint reading and/or GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing)
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs., unassisted
- Must be able to stand for extended periods
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed to meet critical deadlines
- Must be willing to work onsite in Hawthorne, CA, remote work not considered
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, Refugee, or Asylee (or eligible for required authorizations)
Desired Qualifications
- 5+ years of quality inspection experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment
- 3+ years of experience with blueprint reading and/or GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing)
- Understanding of ISO 9001/AS9100 quality management systems
- Solid computer skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
- Ability to review drawings and identify improper callouts/datum structures, according to ASME Y14.5
- Thorough understanding of all layout inspection tools (surface plate, height gage, indicators, calipers, micrometers, gage blocks, thread gages, etc.)
