Job Summary
Conduct detailed First Article Inspections (FAI) for laser and turret operations, perform random floor audits to troubleshoot quality issues, and verify centerlines and assembly layouts using calibrated equipment. Inspect and approve/reject materials sent for secondary operations, manage incoming vendor receipts, and generate Discrepant Material Reports for rejected parts. Compare shop drawings to finished assemblies, maintain inspection logs, ensure testing equipment is calibrated per ISO codes, and coordinate annual audits with external vendors. Address customer and vendor inquiries regarding quality, evaluate returned products, and formulate repair routers to resolve discrepancies before shipment. The role supports a forward-thinking manufacturing team focused on zero-defect delivery and ISO compliance.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- At least 3 years in a manufacturing environment
- 3–5 years of dedicated quality inspection experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Proficiency in Shop Tech
- Proficiency in Pro E CAD software
- Strong understanding of flat pattern generation
- Strong understanding of welding processes (MIG/TIG/Resistance)
- Expert ability to interpret blueprints
- Expert ability to calculate tonnages
- Ability to make independent, high-stakes decisions regarding part compliance
- Strong interpersonal skills for interfacing with customers
- Ability to maintain organized, detailed technical records
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or Quality Engineering
- Relevant work experience in lieu of a degree
- Metal fabrication experience
