Job Summary
Conduct complex dimensional, visual, and functional inspection of machined parts, assemblies, and special-process products against engineering drawings and GD&T. Operate precision equipment including CMMs and optical comparators to verify measurements and special-process certifications. Perform first article inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 and initiate nonconformance documentation for material review board activities. Provide technical guidance, training, and work direction to entry-level inspectors while supporting internal audits and calibration control. Adhere to all quality, safety, ITAR/EAR, and environmental requirements within an AS9100 certified aerospace and defense manufacturing environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Technical certificate or associate degree in a related field
- 3 to 5 years of inspection experience
- 2 or more years in an aerospace or defense manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated ability to interpret complex drawings and GD&T per ASME Y14.5
- Proficiency with precision measuring equipment, including CMM and optical comparators
- Working knowledge of first article inspection (FAI) and AS9102 requirements
- Experience documenting nonconformances and supporting root-cause and corrective-action activities
- Strong attention to detail
- Organizational skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- US person's status under the ITAR and the EAR
Desired Qualifications
- ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or equivalent certification
- Experience with CMM programming and software (for example, PC DMIS or Calypso)
- Familiarity with AS9100, MRB processes, and customer-specific quality requirements
- Experience inspecting electronic, battery, or fuel cell assemblies
