Job Summary
Perform internal and external weldment inspections for work in progress and completed jobs against AWS codes and contract requirements. Verify weldments meet acceptance criteria, interpret drawings and specifications, and compile acceptance or rejection data. Stop non-compliant weld operations and approve repairs while maintaining records of welder qualifications and test results. Assist in training production welders and developing weld process specifications. This CWI role ensures all components meet company, customer, and industry standards through rigorous documentation and verification processes.
Required Qualifications
- Active CWI certification issued by AWS
- Minimum of five (5) plus years of relevant welding and inspection experience or equivalent training and experience
- Must maintain and renew certification with AWS, through continuing education and certification testing
- Experience with NDT (UT, MT, PT)
- Able to read and interpret welding drawings, weld symbols, weld process specifications, and any other relevant contractual documents
- Excellent communication skills; able to communicate effectively with management and personnel at all levels
- Possesses strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in standard business software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office)
Desired Qualifications
- AWS endorsements in AWS 1 (structural steel), D1.2 (structural aluminum) , D1.3 (sheet steel) and D1.6 (stainless steel)
