Job Summary
Quality Improvement Advisor provides QI leadership to design, monitor, and apply information from contractors and health system partners to drive statewide deliverables. Leads design and monitoring of quality improvement strategies to enhance implementation of evidence-based tobacco use disorder treatment in medical and behavioral health systems; contributes to report writing and contract deliverables. Responsibilities include engaging with contractors and health system organizations, planning and facilitating QI-focused meetings, designing QI approaches (PDSA cycles, process mapping, run charts), coordinating qualitative and quantitative information to inform tools and policy recommendations, ensuring health equity, developing guidance documents and technical assistance resources, and supporting tracking of performance measures and progress toward outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, health administration, nursing, social sciences, or related field required
- Experience in health care quality improvement, performance measurement, or practice transformation within medical, behavioral health, or population health programs
- Experience working with or supporting health systems, health centers, or community-based organizations on systems change or policy implementation initiatives
- Experience contributing to program reports, grant deliverables, or evaluation summaries for state, federal, or foundation-funded projects preferred
- Familiarity with evidence-based guidelines for TUD treatment, chronic disease management, or similar clinical quality initiatives
- Strong QI skills, including structured improvement methods (e.g., PDSA), data interpretation, and translating findings into actionable recommendations
- Excellent facilitation and relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for reports and documentation
- Commitment to health equity and reducing tobacco-related disparities across NYS
