Quality Engineer

Job Summary
Evaluate processes to identify and implement improvements, leading root cause investigations and developing long-term resolutions. Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to troubleshoot corrective actions, qualify new processes, and certify production staff. Assist with design feasibility reviews and implement program modifications while maintaining plant-wide communication of quality alerts. Exercise authority to stop production when nonconforming parts are detected and serve as the Quality Representative when the manager is unavailable. Work independently with little supervision to deliver results on time while adhering to quality policies.
Required Qualifications
- 20/20 vision in at least one eye and must not be color blind
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
- 1 year of experience in a related metal fabrication or quality function (metal cutting, forming, welding, and powder paint operations)
- Solid understanding of quality systems, inspection and testing processes
- 6σ, Lean, PPAP, FMEA, APQP, Problem solving (8D, 5-why) experience
- Solid understanding of metal fabrication concepts and processes
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Proficient at multitasking and prioritizing
- Keen sense of attention to detail
- Willingness to work flexible hours with a changing work schedule as needed to support production
- Must be able to navigate in a Windows based computer environment
- Experience with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word and CAD software
Desired Qualifications
- American Society for Quality (ASQ) certifications preferred: Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Six Sigma Green Belt (CSSGB) or Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA)
