Job Summary
Quality Engineer in Veeco's Precision Surface Processing (PSP) leading cross-functional teams to identify and resolve quality issues in complex electromechanical systems. Responsibilities include leading continuous improvement initiatives using 8D and FMEA, acting as the voice of quality in NPI gate reviews and design decisions, analyzing production and field data to identify trends and drive CAPA, developing and maintaining KPIs, generating quality-metrics dashboards, and collaborating with Supplier Quality and vendors to leverage failure analysis learnings. Supports documentation improvements (SOPs, drawings, work instructions, inspection plans) and clearly communicates findings to technical and non-technical audiences. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field with 5+ years of experience, expertise in quality tools (8D, FMEA, 5Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, SPC), capital equipment in semiconductor manufacturing, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, CQE, SAP familiarity, and willingness to travel ~10%. Proficiency with data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, Power BI) and strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work in an agile, collaborative environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or related technical field
- minimum of 5 years of related experience
- Expertise in quality tools: 8D, FMEA, 5Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, SPC
- Capital equipment manufacturing experience, especially in semiconductor industry
- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification
- CQE certification
- Familiarity with SAP ERP system: Quality and Service modules
- Ability to travel domestic & international approximately 10%
