Job Summary
The Junior Quality Engineer will collaborate with production and engineering teams to uphold high quality standards by designing inspection procedures, developing control plans, and guiding problem-solving. Responsibilities include creating and managing essential quality documents (Process Control Plans, Work Instructions, Gauge Instructions), training production staff on new products and inspection procedures, addressing customer concerns with presentations/reports, contributing to PPAP packages, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions, managing corrective action processes and concern logs, developing PPAP submissions from suppliers, supporting continuous improvement initiatives with cross-functional teams, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and quality systems, and performing audits and dimensional/ metrology-related analyses. The role requires a postsecondary engineering degree, automotive QA experience, strong knowledge of APQP/PPAP/DS techniques, GD&T, MSA, SPC, and effective communication and data-driven decision-making skills.
Required Qualifications
- Post Secondary bachelor’s degree in engineering in relevant field (Manufacturing, Quality, Industrial)
- Minimum 6 months of experience in the Quality Assurance department within the automotive industry in a similar role
- Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PCP, PFMEA, 8D, MSA, GD&T, Gauge R&R and metrology
- Ability to interpret standards and customer requirements to ensure compliance
- Intermediate ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings and GD&T symbols
- Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) concepts and able to drive data driven process improvements
- Basic understanding of metallurgical principles
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create and deliver presentations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Ability to learn new software applications
