Job Summary
Quality Engineer at Heads Up Technologies leads the development and maintenance of quality assurance processes to ensure product integrity, regulatory compliance, and customer requirements across production. Responsibilities include maintaining the QMS (AS9100/ISO 9001), leading internal audits, coordinating with external auditors including the FAA, driving corrective actions, and supporting continuous improvement. The role also oversees calibration and maintenance programs for precision equipment, develops quality plans and inspection criteria for hardware and assemblies, conducts root cause investigations (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone), manages CAPA, evaluates supplier quality, and participates in Material Review Board decisions. On-site at Addison, TX with full-time schedule; US citizenship or green card required. The position emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, regulatory liaison activities, and ongoing quality system enhancements to uphold airworthiness and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field
- Minimum of three years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and ability to interpret complex drawings and data
- Experience with quality systems and tools such as 8D, FMEA, Minitab, or Net Inspect
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle
- Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills
- Clear verbal and written communication skills with ability to work with engineering, production, quality, and regulatory auditors
- Digital literacy including ERP/MRP software and digital QMS platforms
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
- ISO 9001 or AS9100 Lead Auditor certification (preferred)
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification (preferred)
- Working knowledge of FAA Part 21 or Part 145 regulations (preferred)
- Experience in avionics or aerospace electronics manufacturing (preferred)
- Experience with regulatory compliance requirements such as REACH, RoHS directives, and restricted substances reporting (preferred)
- Familiarity with FAA repair station Part 145 requirements (preferred)
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies (preferred)
- Knowledge of AS9102 and First Article Inspections (preferred)
- Experience working in a combined office and production/manufacturing environment (preferred)
- Ability to travel occasionally to supplier or customer locations (preferred)
