Job Summary
Quality Engineer role based at the on-site Kansas City, KS facility. Drive product and process quality throughout development and production by implementing robust quality engineering practices, aligning with customer specifications and AIAG/IATF standards, and leading cross-functional collaboration to prevent defects. Responsibilities include establishing quality disciplines during development (APQP/PPAP), maintaining documentation, serving as primary customer contact for quality issues, coordinating with suppliers on quality performance, maintaining Core Tools (Control Plans, PFMEA, MSA, Process Flows), leading problem-solving activities (8D, DMAIC), and supervising the Quality Coordinator. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Quality/Engineering, 3+ years automotive quality experience, knowledge of AIAG/IATF, and travel up to 15%. On-site role with no remote work option.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, or a related field
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an automotive manufacturing environment in roles such as Quality Inspector or Quality Supervisor
- At least 1 year of experience supporting both supplier and customer quality engineering activities
- Minimum 1 year of experience with APQP for new product launches in the automotive industry
- Demonstrated proficiency in root cause analysis and completion of corrective actions
- Strong working knowledge of Automotive Core Tools, including PPAP, SPC, FMEA, MSA, APQP, and Control Plans
- Competency in metrology, blueprint/drawing interpretation, statistical analysis, and color/appearance measurement
- Experience performing color and/or appearance testing and approvals for product inspections
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding products, services, processes, and proprietary information
Desired Qualifications
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer preferred
- Minimum 3 years of automotive manufacturing quality experience
- Experience with APQP, PPAP, AIAG, and IATF standards
- Experience with Core Tools: PFMEA, MSA, Control Plans, SPC
- Strong problem-solving skills (8D, DMAIC)
- Supplier and customer quality interface experience
- Root cause analysis and corrective action leadership
- Travel up to 15%
