Quality Engineer

Job Summary
Review design drawings, operation sheets, and process procedures to ensure compliance with customer and division quality requirements. Perform internal audits, interpret AS9100C and ISO9001 specifications, and generate quality metrics to mitigate process risks. Support the Engineering and Purchasing groups with NPI analysis, material procurement, and supplier performance monitoring. Execute root cause analysis using 8D and 5 Why's tools, respond to customer CAR requests, and implement new inspection technologies. Maintain quality records and lead Quality Clinic activities while resolving nonconforming product issues with suppliers and customers. This role is 100% in office at our plant in East Hartford, CT.
Required Qualifications
- Four-year degree (or 5 years of inspection experience) plus 2 to 3 years as a Quality Engineer or equivalent
- Working knowledge of statistical process control
- Working knowledge of lean principles
- Knowledge of the company quality system, as well as contractual quality requirements, which vary from customer to customer
- Ability to validate inspections, interpret GD&T blueprints, and perform shop math (including trigonometry)
- Capable with Microsoft Windows and Office
- Effective human relations skills to motivate others and convince them of the validity of solutions to problems
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift 40 pounds frequently
- Stoop/bend/kneel/crouch/balance/climb on an occasional basis
