Job Summary
Inspect SMT and through-hole electronic assemblies to IPC-A-610 Class 2 and Class 3 standards by reviewing assembly drawings, bills of materials, and work instructions before inspections. Operate and program Automatic Optical Inspection and X-ray equipment, then use calipers, volt-ohm meters, and pin gauges to verify workmanship and component identification. Perform first-article inspections, record findings in the company database, and promptly communicate quality problems or documentation discrepancies. Adhere to ESD, chemical, MSDS, safety, and equipment certification requirements while maintaining ITAR compliance. This 6-month contract-to-hire role in Hillsboro, Oregon, supports clients in electronics manufacturing operations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous quality inspection experience in electronics, printed circuit boards, manufacturing, or computer components
- Familiarity with IPC-A-610 standards
- Experience in inspecting SMT and through-hole assemblies
- Experience operating or programming AOI equipment
- Experience operating or programming x-ray inspection equipment
- Ability to read blueprints, assembly drawings, bills of materials, and work instructions
- Experience using calipers, volt-ohm meters, pin gauges, or similar inspection tools
- Ability to identify electronic components and component part numbers
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify very small defects
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn quality-related software
- Ability to comply with ITAR requirements
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds and accurately distinguish between colors
