Job Summary
Ensure production processes meet superior food safety systems (SQF and HACCP) and quality standards from raw material entry to finished product shipment. Prepare samples, media, and buffers for daily analysis, then perform chemical, microbiological, and organoleptic testing of ingredients, work-in-progress, and finished products. Generate accurate test results, conduct product and environmental monitoring, and verify COAs, raw materials, finished products, and labels. Operate and calibrate lab equipment per standard operating procedures, produce reports for internal and external customers, and maintain accurate computer records for product release. Maintain laboratory equipment and cleanliness, order supplies, and work closely with production staff on sanitation, hygiene, GMPs, and related training. Monitor and maintain Quality, Food Safety, and SQF systems, with authority to stop manufacture if unsafe conditions or quality compromises are encountered.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in the food industry
- Bachelor of Science Degree or Diploma in Microbiology or Food Science
- Knowledge of microbiological procedures and autoclaving techniques
- Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, allergens, and food security
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal/written communication and problem-solving skills
- Proficient computer abilities using Word & Excel
- Willing and able to work overtime and weekends when required
- Lifting of materials to a maximum of 25 kg
- Standing for a continuous length of time
- Occasional climbing of stairs
