Job Summary
Lead the QC Inspection Department by managing daily operations, conducting inspections, and coordinating team targets to ensure customer requirements are met. Implement and maintain in-process quality control methodologies including MSA studies, Process Capability, and SPC while driving continuous improvement through Lean inspection processes. Manage staff performance, conduct inductions and appraisals, and authorize absences to maintain adequate staffing levels. Maintain NDE qualifications per SNT-TC-1A and PCN standards, oversee COSHH and risk assessments, and support new product introductions from a QC perspective. Collaborate closely with the QA department and raise resourcing concerns to resolve issues in line with internal policies.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrable experience in a Team Leading role within a manufacturing organisation
- Significant mechanical inspection experience or relevant apprenticeship
- Excellent experience of using hand tools and CMM measuring techniques
- Ability to manage own time and deliverables effectively
- Ability to train QC inspectors
- Ability to create programs on CMM machines
- Ability to communicate effectively
- High attention to detail
- Comfortable working alone and as an effective member of a multifunctional team
- Strong problem-solving skills and thinking outside of the box
- Maintain QC staff NDE qualifications in accordance with QA requirements SNT-TC-1A Level 2
- Maintain NDE staff qualifications in accordance with QA requirements PCN Level 2, General
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience of ISO 9001 or AS9100
- Knowledge of MSA, Process Capability and SPC
- Experience in working with problem solving methodologies such as 8D, DMAIC, Ishikawa, 5Why's etc
- ISO9001 Internal Auditor qualification and basic experience
- Mechanical Engineering background including measuring techniques
- Good general understanding of Health, Safety & Environmental Legislation
