Job Summary
Monitor product, paperwork, and employee practices via on-the-line checks and continuous department touring while maintaining technical production information. Lead day-to-day activities of QC Technicians, oversee lab and plant operations, and manage non-conforming products by investigating root causes, gathering evidence, and issuing disposition instructions. Perform process checks across production, packaging, and sanitation functions including GMP, metal detection, and weight verification, while conducting environmental swabbing, allergen testing, and equipment calibration. Provide training to staff, assist in customer complaint investigations, and collaborate with R&D for trial runs. Ensure all operations comply with food safety standards and Good Manufacturing Practices.
Required Qualifications
- University Degree, College, or Technical School Certificate in the science field
- 1-2 years of related quality control experience in the food industry
- Experience investigating the cause of issues related to poor product quality/safety
- GMP & HACCP training
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
- Good math skills
- Great attention to detail with accuracy, especially regarding product specifications
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must be flexible and able to work other OT and/or other shifts to cover absences, vacations, etc.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge in the Food Science field would be ideal
- Excellent critical thinking skills to troubleshoot product quality/safety problems
- Good English reading, writing and communication skills
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to speak effectively to groups of employees
- Must be competent in using standard computer software packages including Microsoft Word, and Excel
