Job Summary
Quality Control Manager at Southwind Construction drives the 3-Phase Quality Control Program across assigned projects, conducts and documents inspections and testing to ensure contract compliance with plans, specs, and regulatory standards, coordinates with USACE/government representatives, subcontractors, and testing labs, and may serve as SSHO when dual-hatted. Responsibilities include leading QC meetings, managing daily QC reports, witnessing inspections (concrete, soils, welds, hydronics, fire suppression, FA/MNS tests), maintaining submittal records, ensuring material traceability, securing environmental permits, developing accident prevention plans, and coordinating with project team to close-out and document final records. Requires strong leadership, willingness to mentor QC staff, Procore/RMS/Primavera proficiency, and ability to perform site inspections in varied conditions. Desirable Master’s degree in engineering/construction management and professional certifications such as CCM or CQM; federal project experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
- EM385-1-1 certification
- 10–15 years of experience in the construction industry; at least 15 years of QC or related experience
- Bachelor’s degree in construction engineering or related field OR equivalent experience
- Strong knowledge of construction techniques, QC methods, and contract requirements
- Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and submittals
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to foresee issues and implement corrective actions
- Proficiency with Procore, RMS, Primavera, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat
- Ability to work in diverse weather conditions and perform physical site inspections (walking, climbing, lifting)
- Subject to background check, drug screening, and confidentiality requirements
- Certification: EM385-1-1 (required)
