Job Summary
Quality Control Manager leads site-level quality operations in a fabrication and welding environment, overseeing QMS, ensuring compliance with customer/industry standards, and driving continuous improvement. Responsibilities include leading Quality Inspectors and welding inspectors, managing incoming/in-process/final inspections, developing and maintaining quality procedures and documentation, leading management review meetings, ensuring compliance with customer specs and welding procedures, writing WPS/PQR/Welding qualifications, driving root cause analysis and corrective actions, coordinating with production/engineering/purchasing, managing calibration systems for inspection equipment, leading internal/external/customer audits, and advancing initiatives to reduce scrap/rework/delays/quality escapes. Requires strong manufacturing quality knowledge, ability to read blueprints and welding symbols, experience with CAPA and KPI reporting, and leadership in a manufacturing/fabrication context. Education includes a HS diploma/equivalent with preferred engineering/quality degrees; 5+ years quality experience and 3+ years leadership; CWI preferred. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of quality experience within a manufacturing or fabrication environment
- 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience managing quality personnel
- Experience leading internal and external audits
- Hands-on experience within welding, fabrication, or metal manufacturing operations
- Experience with management review processes, KPI reporting, and corrective action systems
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of fabrication, welding, and manufacturing quality systems
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and welding symbols
- Experience with root cause analysis, audits, CAPA, and KPI reporting
- Proficiency with inspection tools, spreadsheets, and quality documentation systems
