Job Summary

Perform visual inspections of fabricated structural steel components, welds, and incoming materials to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, and EZARC quality standards. Measure dimensional accuracy using gauges, calipers, and other equipment while interpreting blueprints and shop drawings. Identify defects, document nonconformance records, and quarantine products failing to meet requirements. Communicate findings to supervisors and production personnel, coordinate with third-party inspectors, and prepare final inspection reports before shipment. Maintain clean work areas and support continuous improvement initiatives. Primarily works indoors in a structural steel fabrication shop with occasional outdoor exposure.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret structural steel shop drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and specifications
  • Ability to accurately use measuring tapes, calipers, gauges, squares, and other inspection tools
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality defects and discrepancies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to accurately complete inspection and quality documentation
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems
  • Ability to work effectively with Production, Welding, Fabrication, Shipping, and Quality Control personnel
  • Ability to work independently while following established inspection procedures and quality requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to distinguish colors and identify weld characteristics and defects
  • Ability to use inspection and measuring equipment safely and accurately

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience in structural steel fabrication, welding, quality control, manufacturing, or a related field
  • Previous welding inspection or fabrication inspection experience
  • Working knowledge of structural steel fabrication processes and welding practices
  • Basic knowledge of AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code – Steel
  • Basic knowledge of AISC standards
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
  • Other quality, welding, or inspection certifications
