Job Summary

Quality Control Coordinator in Toronto responsible for implementing and maintaining the Project Quality Management System in compliance with ISO 9001, contract requirements, and client specifications. Oversees daily field construction activities for Support of Excavation (SOE), including slurry walls, secant piles, tiebacks, struts, walers, steel bracing systems, reinforcement works, civil works, utilities, asphalt works, and concrete operations. Performs structural inspections of reinforcement, formwork, and concrete pouring to verify conformity with approved ITPs and drawings. Reviews Shop Drawings, ITPs, and project specs before on-site work to ensure conformity. Manages ITP implementation with hold points and testing requirements. Collaborates with internal teams and subcontractors to align daily activities with quality standards and coordinates formal inspections with clients, engineers, and third-party inspectors for sign-offs. Maintains quality documentation and ensures compliance with audit expectations, using Procore and SharePoint for record-keeping. Drives continuous improvement by identifying deficiencies and process gaps and coordinating with stakeholders to mitigate risks.

Required Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering Technology/Technician or a related engineering program; Bachelor of Civil Engineering is considered an asset
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in infrastructure, heavy civil, or Support of Excavation (SOE) projects and reinforced concrete works
  • Hands-on exposure to SOE activities (slurry walls, secant piles, tiebacks, struts, walers, steel bracing systems) and structural concrete inspections
  • Strong knowledge of provincial/regional construction standards and specifications (e.g., OPSS, CSA) and ISO 9001 quality management systems
  • Proficient with construction and document management platforms, specifically Procore, SharePoint, or equivalent client-specific portals
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record for field travel
  • Experience with reviewing technical documentation (Shop Drawings, ITPs, project specifications, Material Data Sheets) and ensuring conformity
  • Ability to coordinate formal inspections with client representatives, engineers, and third-party inspectors
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders in an audited environment
