Job Summary
The Quality Control Color Shader position entails adjusting liquid coatings to match product specifications, tinting across a range of formulations, and ensuring color accuracy. Responsibilities include determining colorants and additives, operating a spectrophotometer (X-Rite) to measure color against standards, preparing test panels via hand spraying, and visually evaluating color quality. Collaborates with chemists and supervisors to adjust formulas for out-of-spec products, records final results in the data management system, performs QC laboratory testing (viscosity, solids content, weight per gallon), and physically adds tints and additives to production tanks. Requires strong analytical skills, proficiency with Excel/Access, excellent color vision, mathematical accuracy, and effective communication. Also responsible for housekeeping and hazardous waste training, with post-offer testing (physical, drug screen, background check). Shift is 1st – 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday–Friday, Milwaukee, WI facility.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or equivalent in a related field; preferred 2-year college degree or equivalent
- Three or more years of experience in batch creation, wet testing, color matching, and paint characteristics in a manufacturing setting
