Job Summary
Conduct routine food safety and quality inspections of production, preparation, sanitation, and material handling areas while monitoring compliance with GMPs, hygiene, and allergen controls. Perform in-process and finished product checks, collect samples for testing, and verify Critical Control Points to support SQF certification and FSMA regulatory requirements. Review production and traceability records for accuracy, identify non-conformances, and initiate corrective actions or escalate risks immediately. Provide real-time coaching to operations personnel and participate in internal and third-party audits. Maintain regular attendance, including weekends or off-shifts as needed, while adhering to OSHA safety standards and PPE requirements in a food processing environment.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to understand and apply food safety and quality requirements
- Ability to accurately complete inspections, documentation, and reports
- Ability to communicate findings clearly and professionally
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout production and warehouse areas for extended periods
- Ability to climb stairs or ladders as required for inspections
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30–50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to visually inspect products, labels, equipment, and records
- Ability to communicate effectively in a production environment
- Work assigned schedules, including weekends or off-shifts as needed to support production
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (associate or bachelor's degree in food science or related field preferred)
- Prior experience in food safety, quality assurance, or food manufacturing
- Familiarity with SQF certification programs
- Basic knowledge of HACCP, Preventive Controls, and allergen management
