Job Summary
Quality Assurance Technician - Floater at The Bellevue Milk Plant in Bellevue, WA. Responsibilities include sampling, testing, plating, reading and recording product test results; data entry and interpretation; following QC Hold procedures; maintaining SOPs and GMP compliance; contributing to a 6-S rating; equipment calibration and troubleshooting; supporting continuous improvement; and communicating daily with supervisors on production issues. Qualifications emphasize a four-year college degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology or related field (or equivalent experience) and knowledge of microbiological, physical, chemical, and organoleptic testing, HACCP/Food Safety, GMPs, and strong organizational and communication skills. The role requires the ability to lift 50 lbs and adapt to a fast-paced environment; shift schedule includes evenings and weekends with potential for swing/grave shifts; benefits include medical/dental/vision, PTO, holidays, retirement provisions, and 401k. Required Qualifications
- Four-year college degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology or related field (Desired) or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of Microbiological, Physical, Chemical and Organoleptic Testing
- Ensure Safeway policies, procedures, and workplace safety requirements are adhered to
- Evaluate trends from test results and communicate these trends to employees and management
- Implement quality control processes/testing to meet the expectations of Safeway quality standards and ensure that the product(s) are within specification
- Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of initiative and flexibility
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Maintain inventory on laboratory supplies
- Good oral/written communication skills
- Able to multi-task in fast paced environment with limited supervision
- Proficient in window-based PC programs
- Lab Test Equipment/Maintenance
- Knowledge of HACCP/Food Safety
- Must follow current Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Sanitation Practices, Food Safety and Occupational Safety
- Ability to lift 50lbs
