Job Summary
Perform daily quality activities in the slaughter facility, including testing, monitoring HACCP and SSOP procedures, and maintaining regulatory-compliant records. Report important events to the Quality Supervisor and communicate activities with production and maintenance personnel. Execute directives from Quality Management while adhering to safety protocols and handling materials up to 75 pounds. Work the 2nd shift from 5:00 PM to 2:00 AM, Monday through Friday, with a high school diploma or GED required and 1 to 3 years of in-plant quality experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos written in English
- Ability to write simple correspondence in English
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to solve mathematical equations involving ruler readings, percentages, averages, rounding, and conversion of grams, pounds and ounces
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Must be able to pass the Quality Control math test
- Ability to make good decisions regarding food safety and other quality issues on a day-to-day basis
- A good understanding of food microbiology and chemistry as it relates to food processing
- 1 to 3 years' experience in in-plant quality activities
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
