Job Summary
Direct supervision of the Quality Assurance Department staff including Chief Inspectors and Records Personnel. Assure all inspections are properly performed on completed work and that proper records, reports, and forms are executed prior to releasing products for return to service. Approve implementation or changes to all forms and tags used by the repair station. Determine that all technical data on overhauled or repaired articles remains current with latest revisions and manufacturer specifications. Assure periodic checks on inspection tools and calibration of precision equipment, maintaining current records of those inspections. Determine that no defective or unairworthy parts are installed in components released by the station. Submit reports of defects or unairworthy conditions in accordance with 14CFR §145.221. Oversee preliminary, hidden, in-progress, and final inspections of all articles maintained by the repair station. Ensure proper tagging, identification, and segregation of unairworthy parts to prevent reuse. Maintain and keep current a regulatory library including FAA regulations and airworthiness directives. Compile completed work orders and inspection forms for easy retrieval. Serve as the ISO Quality Manager, ensuring compliance with ISO-9001 and writing quality escapes or corrective actions.
Required Qualifications
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
- FAA Inspection Authorization
- 8 years of experience in an FAA Part 145 Certified Repair Station
- progressive experience in supervisory and inspector roles
- Technical degree in Aviation related field
- Working knowledge of FAA and Federal Aviation Regulations pertaining to maintenance programs and procedures
- Experience working with the FAA
- Computer skills necessary to learn and/or operate word processing, spreadsheet, database, and email
- Experience in using aircraft maintenance planning software systems such as EBIS
- Working knowledge of process improvement methodology and application
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Business writing skills necessary to create various reports and correspondence
- Presentation skills necessary to effectively communicate, update, persuade, and/or facilitate discussions with all levels of management
- Planning and organizational skills necessary to prioritize, assign and coordinate workload of assigned area and employees with a multiple project setting
- Experience in ISO 9001 Quality Management System compliance
- GA and Corporate aircraft experience
