Job Summary
QA Manager at Sitka Seafoods leads the site’s quality assurance program, acts as HACCP Team Coordinator, directs HACCP plan implementation, ensures regulatory and customer specifications are met, maintains QA/QC records, trains staff, coordinates with regulatory bodies, and represents the site during audits. Requires 3+ years in seafood QA/QC, QA/QC leadership capability, HACCP/BRC familiarity, lab and GMP knowledge, strong communication and organizational skills, and ability to work in a seafood processing plant; relocation assistance available via short-term housing during Sitka relocation.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of seafood processing QA/QC experience
- HAACP certification preferred
- Food science degree preferred
- BRC certification experience preferred
- Lab work experience and/or training
- Proven ability to manage employees, food safety and quality functions
- Working knowledge of good manufacturing practices and food safety regulations
- Influential, collaborative, professional demeanor. Effective oral and written communications
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Ability and willingness to work in a seafood processing plant with inherent hazards (moving machinery, ammonia, wet floors, etc.)
- Work is often in inclement weather; long hours during production seasons
- Consistent and reliable attendance
