Job Summary
Quality Assurance Engineer responsibilities include developing project-specific inspection planning documents in compliance with contract requirements, establishing project-wide quality systems, inspection and test plans, and coordinating with Manufacturing Engineering and Demand Management to ensure clear communication of inspection requirements. The role involves collaborating with Quality Assurance, Design, Engineering, Purchasing, and other departments to develop and document inspection control plans, leading cross-functional problem-solving teams to address quality issues, and maintaining quality system records. The position also interfaces with third-party suppliers and customers during new product development and inspections, and may require weeks exceeding 40 hours. The work environment is a manufacturing/shop floor setting with PPE requirements and exposure to typical shop hazards. Proficiency with ISO 9000, ASME NQA-1, QMS concepts, drawing interpretation, gauging, and manufacturing processes, along with MS Office and document management tools, are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering and a minimum of five years related work experience in Quality Assurance, preferably in a manufacturing environment, OR Associates Degree in a relevant field and ten years related work experience in Quality Assurance, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- ISO 9000, ASME NQA-1 or equivalent industry standardized Quality Management System (QMS) knowledge and experience
- Experience dealing with government or other regulated industry contract review and interpretation
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and design specifications
- Knowledge of inspection gauges and gauging practices
- Knowledge of typical manufacturing processes including, welding, weld inspection, NDE, conventional and CNC milling and turning
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
- Proficient in the use of document management software
- Formal training and experience with corrective action/problem-solving, preferred
