Quality Assurance Chemist

Job Summary

Monitor, develop, and maintain laboratory quality systems and QA programs while collaborating with team members to identify deficiencies and ensure quality standards are met. Conduct all laboratory analysis including hands-on bench work, operate gas chromatographs, and perform calibrations and troubleshooting. Provide guidance to technicians and chemists to maintain proper training levels, participate in audits, and assist with corrective and preventive action requests. Report results to internal and external customers as needed. This role requires a dependable individual with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and 5+ years of experience in a regulated commercial lab environment to support SGS's global benchmark in quality and integrity.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or a related science
  • 5+ years of experience in a regulated commercial lab environment
  • 1+ year of protocol and report writing experience
  • Advanced knowledge of routine & non-routine testing methods
  • Bachelor Degree in Chemistry and similar disciplines
  • TWIC
  • Knowledgeable in ASTM standards
  • Must be able to work with all chemical, petrochemical and petroleum products
  • Must be able to differentiate between colors accurately by sight
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals and/or groups both within the organization
  • Ability to synthesize information from a variety of sources into solutions and work effectively under pressure while acting accordingly to the SGS standards of ethics and integrity
  • High level of accuracy is required, with special attention to details
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, while balancing numerous projects concurrently with different deadlines

Desired Qualifications

  • 7+ years of oil, gas and chemical industry experience in a laboratory
  • Master's degree in Chemistry or related sciences
