Job Summary
QMA administers and documents prescribed medications for residents under supervision of a licensed nurse. Responsibilities include preparing and administering oral, eye, nasal, ear, and topical medications; administering PRN medications as authorized; verifying physician orders against medication forms; maintaining drug storage and cleanliness; counting and recording controlled substances; charting resident conditions and vital signs; coordinating with pharmacy to order medications; and ensuring secure medication carts and proper pharmacologic references are used.
Required Qualifications
- Certified as a Qualified Medication Aide in the state employed; certificate must be active, valid, and in good standing.
- Certified as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state employed; certificate must be active, valid, and in good standing.
