Job Summary
Administer oral, inhaler, nebulizer, topical, and rectal medications under nurse supervision while monitoring vital signs and observing for drug reactions. Calculate dosages, stock the medication cart, and document all treatments on the MAR chart. Report resident responses and concerns immediately to the nurse on duty and audit documentation for accuracy. Safely lift and transfer residents as required while attending mandatory meetings and med pass audits. Requires current QMA certification, ability to work flexible night, weekend, and holiday shifts, and knowledge of federal and state regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Must have current, unencumbered QMA Certification
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and/or holidays
- Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level in which they are currently functioning
- Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents
- Must adhere to and interpret resident rights and personnel policies
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations
- Understands special needs and limitations of elderly
- Recognizes and identifies problems and refer to others if necessary
- Ability to communicate with the resident, family, staff, and community
- Maintains the confidentiality of resident information and honor his/her personal and property rights
- Responds to the needs of the facility, residents, and families in a timely and appropriate manner
- Must be available for Night shift
- Must be available for Weekend Option Program
