Job Summary
The Qualified Behavioral Health Specialist (QBHS) provides 24/7 mobile emergency crisis response for individuals experiencing emotional, behavioral, or mental health crises. Responsibilities include responding to crisis referrals within 60 minutes, working with individuals for 42 days post-crisis to ensure community connections and support, and adhering to established policies and protocols. The QBHS must demonstrate competencies in addressing mental health or substance use disorders and effectively manage multiple priorities while communicating effectively with team members and supervisors.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Completed training for or education in either mental health or substance use disorder competencies
- Demonstrated minimum competencies in basic mental health or substance use disorder and recovery skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Operational smart phone
- Ability to work shifts that include evenings, holidays, and weekends
- Attests to having read and understood the code of ethics at initial certification and every certification renewal thereafter
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience with mental health crisis response
- Bi-lingual skills (Spanish)
- Familiarity with Systems of Care values and principles
- Strong communication and writing skills
- Enthusiastic about advancing system change within the community
