Job Summary

Conduct mental health services for severe adult consumers within the criminal justice system by riding out with county sheriff's deputies across Freestone, Limestone, Falls, Bosque, and Hill Counties. Perform on-site crisis coverage, clinical assessments, and case management while coordinating tele-psychiatry and referrals with legal entities, jail staff, attorneys, judges, and family members. Provide continuity of care, advocacy for individuals with mental illness, and trauma-informed interventions under moderate supervision of the SB 292 Program Manager. Work 8AM-5PM M-F with a $5,000 stipend and comprehensive benefits including employer-paid health, dental, and life insurance.

Required Qualifications

  • Successful experience in providing mental health services for people with severe and persistent mental illnesses
  • Working knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis
  • Working knowledge of psychosocial assessments
  • Working knowledge of crisis intervention
  • One year case management experience
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university
  • Bachelor's or master's degree
  • Major in behavioral, social science, humanities or education
  • Knowledge of mental illness
  • Knowledge of emotional components of physical illness
  • Demonstrated skill in interviewing
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with professional personnel
  • Ability to exercise tact
  • Ability to initiate
  • Ability to exercise good judgement
  • Ability to prepare reports
  • Ability to make recommendations for administrative use
  • Ability to speak and write effectively
