Job Summary
Administer, pour, pass, and document all routinely prescribed medications per physician orders and the five rights while observing resident privacy and dignity. Order medications from the pharmacy seven days prior to stockouts, ensure timely delivery, and report any errors or side effects immediately to the Wellness Director. Record vital signs prior to administration, document PRN medications, and assist with daily care tasks including toileting, grooming, bathing, and feeding. Report unsafe conditions and collaborate on resident care plans to assure physical comfort and mental well-being.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of state approved Medication Administration training
- First Aid certification as required by the ALF regulations
- QMAP in the state of CO
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- Must have experience working in Assisted Living or Memory Care with a good work record
- Experience administering medication in an assisted living setting
- Must be capable of making decisions with the interest of the residents at heart
- Supportive of company policies and decisions
- Must be able to read and write English
- Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procurement manuals, etc.
- Must have good communication skills
- Must be able to effectively communicate in English
- Must be able to understand and follow written and oral directions
- Must show good judgement in recognizing symptoms indicative of a resident's change in condition
- Work with licensed nurses
- Aware of limitations and not attempt to exceed these limitations
- Perform the functions of medication administration
- Knowledge of required Medication Administration Procedures
- Good understanding of basis of universal precautions to avoid infection of residents and self or contamination of equipment and supplies
- Minimum three years' experience in senior living
- Passion to work with seniors
- Previous experience with an Assisted Living community
Desired Qualifications
- Some previous experience in health-care
