Job Summary
Administer, pour, pass, and document all routinely prescribed medications per physician orders, observing the five rights and ensuring residents always have available meds by ordering 7 days prior to running out. Take and record vital signs prior to administration, observe reactions and side effects, and immediately report any medication errors to the Wellness Director. Assist with resident care tasks including toileting, grooming, bathing, feeding, and moving residents, while ensuring privacy, safety, and mental well-being. Document all administered meds and PRN medications in the medical record, date and initial bubble packs, and assist in developing resident care plans.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of state approved Medication Administration training
- First Aid certification as required by the ALF regulations
- QMAP in the state of CO
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- Must be capable of making decisions with the interest of the residents at heart
- Must be supportive of company policies and decisions
- Must be able to read and write English
- Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procurement manuals, etc.
- Must have good communication skills
- Must be able to effectively communicate in English
- Must be able to understand and follow written and oral directions
- Must show good judgement in recognizing symptoms indicative of a resident's change in condition
- Must be able to work with licensed nurses
- Must be aware of limitations and not attempt to exceed these limitations
- Minimum three years' experience in senior living preferred
- Must have a passion to work with seniors
- Previous experience with an Assisted Living community
- Must have experience working in Assisted Living or Memory Care with a good work record
- Must have experience administering medication in an assisted living setting
- Must attend monthly in-service education and training within the community
