Job Summary

Quality Improvement Coordinator – Records Specialist leads the Medical Records Department, coordinating records projects and procedures, overseeing accurate collection, organization, and release of records, ensuring PHI privacy and HIPAA compliance, and supporting CQI activities. The role requires coordinating staff, providing training, maintaining scanning and filing accuracy in EHR, reviewing legal requests (subpoenas), monitoring records workflows, contributing to accreditation and audits, and assisting with QA/QI reporting and data analysis. Requires an Associate’s degree, 2 years medical records/HIM experience, HIPAA knowledge, EHR proficiency, and strong organizational and communication skills; driver’s license and insurance required.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of an Associate’s degree from an accredited college
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in medical records or health information management experience
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and healthcare documentation requirements
  • Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and show proof of personal auto insurance policy to be deemed insurable with Harbor’s vehicle insurance carrier
