Job Summary
QC Technician on 2nd shift conducts chemical and physical laboratory tests of finished products and batch raw materials. Operates performance testing equipment and analytical instrumentation with maintenance, calibration, and repairs as needed. Performs detailed ASTM, SAE, and FTM testing of key characteristics for raw materials, intermediates, production batches, and R&D/Technical Service samples, including aviation-specific, viscometric, tribology, foam/emulsion, and grease testing. Characterizes ultra-clean requirements using spectroscopic light scattering particle counters; performs quantitative gravimetric Millipore filtration, wet chemical titration methods (Karl Fischer, total acid/base number), and measures Specific Gravity, Pour/Flash/Fire Point, and Electrical properties. Analyzes samples with ICP, HPLC, GC, and FTIR; conducts routine control charting and troubleshooting of deviations. Operates the Production laboratory to test inline packaged material and authorizes line approvals; provides production support to maintain product quality. Maintains accurate, organized documentation (SAP/LIMS) and supports root-cause analyses and corrective actions with data and lab blends. Participates in internal and external quality audits of laboratory performance; develops improvements in laboratory processes for accuracy and efficiency. Participates in PTHAs, JSAs, and supports plant/department Safety and 5S initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Minimum of a High school diploma with significant testing experience is required; Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Previous experience testing in a chemical lab is required including testing raw materials, intermediates, and production batches.
- Experience using ICP, HPLC, GC, and FTIR for analysis.
- Willing to work 2nd shift hours, Monday - Friday from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM.
