Job Summary
Conduct routine laboratory activities including microbiological plating, water activity testing, FTIR, and loss on drying for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished products. Monitor and verify documentation practices during production by reviewing batch records, ensuring data integrity, and correcting errors in real time. Provide on-floor support for GMP compliance by inspecting sanitation, verifying cleaning effectiveness, and monitoring critical control points such as metal detection and seal checks. Organize retention samples and coordinate sample submissions to third-party labs while ensuring all manufacturing and packaging processes adhere to cGMPs and FDA requirements. Participate in inspection readiness and assist with CAPA follow-up for internal audits and health authority inspections. Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean methodology to enhance cycle time, productivity, and efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Biology, Chemistry, or related field
- business/operations degree
- Strong working knowledge of algebra and basic laboratory math
- fluency in lab/technical terminology
- Fluency in quality systems and regulatory compliance
- Must have strong communication skills
- Must be well-organized, detail oriented, and able to work within deadlines as well as under pressure
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Confident decision maker, self-accountability with an ability to develop and adhere to self-directed standard work
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize work, goals, and tasks in accordance with Quality and Business objectives
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
- Demonstrated professionalism and collaborative communication skills
- Reliable attendance and the ability to work the scheduled shift, including overtime
- Must be able to walk or stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to reach above shoulder level, bend/stoop, kneel, push/pull, and handle/grip frequently
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs
- Regular reaching, bending, stooping, and twisting
- Repetitive motion and substantial movement of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
- All applicants must possess or obtain authorization to work in the US for Zoetis
