Job Summary
Appraiser assists with jewelry appraisals, evaluates jewelry, researches replacement pricing, and documents official appraisal. Identifies gemstones, photographs jewelry for inventory and appraisals, grades diamonds according to the GIA scale, tests metals, and inspects stones to ensure they are genuine per gemological standards. Ensures jewelry meets the company’s gemological and quality standards, analyzes quality of metal work and settings, verifies gem certifications, and prepares documentation for any gems or jewelry classified as Quality Control rejections. Travels as needed; works in the office five days a week. Provides collaboration with Quality Control, Appraisal departments, Buyers, VP of Merchandise, and retail stores.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Advanced degree is a plus
- Certified Gemologist Appraiser title or National Association of Jewelry Appraisers membership
- At least 2 years of experience appraising jewelry
