Job Summary
Operate the organic/polymer lab under a Ph.D. principal investigator, maintaining cleanliness, equipment readiness, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Conduct experiments, analyze results using techniques like FT-IR, SEM, and thermal analysis, and prepare laboratory notebooks and SOPs. Perform wet synthesis, purify materials, and characterize polymeric compounds while documenting findings for the research team. Train on specialized skills such as film casting and viscometry to meet R&D deliverables, execute multiple assignments independently, and assist in developing new test methods. Submit a completed SIR form electronically by the July 24, 2026 deadline.
Required Qualifications

- Strong background in polyimide polymer synthesis
- Broad experience with thermal, mechanical, and electrical property testing
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel)
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in word processing (MS Word)
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS PowerPoint
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in statistical analysis
- SAP experience desired
- Experience with microscopy for film and defect evaluation
- Demonstrated ability to proactively and creatively conduct non-routine tasks with minimal supervision
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to interface one-on-one with customers and give presentations
- Ability to perform physical work consistently with corporate ergonomic guidelines
- Demonstrated ability to be well organized
- Willingness to learn and participate in the development of new techniques and test methods
- Ability to work both independently and as part of team research effort
- A proven track record of having a strong work ethic, high productivity and positive team attitude
- Demonstrated ability to understand and carry out written instructions for established laboratory SOPs & test methods
- Advance through area pay and progression policies to level 7
- Competency demonstration during interview on fundamental chemistry & math
- Use of MS Excel
- Must have medical approval
- Must agree to stay for a minimum of three (3) years in the assignment assuming satisfactory job performance
- Will be required to work a flexible work schedule to support business needs including working overtime as needed and/or during quality crises or product trials
- Will be required to be 'on call' to respond to customer crises
- Successful completion of the Q.B.S. Trial Period per the P&IR Manual
- Ability to effectively communicate in writing

Desired Qualifications
- SAP experience desired
- Laboratory experience such as in a QC setting or R&D setting
- Advanced training in chemistry (coursework, workshops, certification)
- A scientific or engineering related degree
- Prior polymer or directly applicable analytical testing and R&D experience
- Although a working knowledge of polymer chemistry is not required, it is preferred
- A willingness to learn that research area will be needed
