Job Summary
In-person QA Test Technician role at Teal Drones facility (Salt Lake City, UT) focused on executing test cases for unmanned aerial systems (UAS) software/hardware, developing test plans, and documenting findings. Collaborative environment with Senior Engineers and software/mechanical/electrical engineering teams to ensure UAS systems meet written requirements; opportunity to grow into advanced flight-test or test-engineering roles. Responsibilities include executing test cases and regression tests, identifying defects, contributing to automated testing with senior engineers, compiling clear test artifacts (logs, videos, images), and adhering to sUAS safety and regulatory requirements. Requires 1+ years in a related field, Part 107 certification eligibility, strong attention to detail, and effective communication; travel to test sites multiple times per week is expected.
Required Qualifications
- 1 or more years of experience in a related field
- Eligible for certification under Part 107
- Experience operating or supporting sUAS platforms (multi-rotor or fixed-wing) in a structured environment
- Ability to follow written procedures exactly and escalate uncertainties
- Foundational technical understanding of sUAS systems and components
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail in executing procedures and documenting test data
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to travel to the test site multiple times per week
- Exposure to automated test scripts is a plus
- Familiarity with Linux or Windows environments and embedded systems concepts
- Familiarity with defect-tracking tools like Jira and test-suite tools like BugZilla or TestRail
- Familiarity with software and product development lifecycle
- Experience in aerospace, aviation tech, or UAS tech (preferred)
- Interest in mission-critical UAS applications (defense/public safety/industrial)
- Experience with Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence)
- Proficiency with PX4, ArduPilot, MAVLink, QGroundControl
- Familiarity with controls, robotics, microcontrollers, Android OS, and networking
- Experience with WebODM, UgCS, Pix4D
- Familiarity with FAA Drone Zone, LAANC, Drone NOTAMs and waivers
