Job Summary
Conduct first article inspections and in-process testing of cans, packaging, and components using calipers, gages, optical tools, and electronic measuring equipment. Perform calibrations of test devices, maintain QA records on PC-based systems, and prepare Certificates of Conformance for manufactured products. Analyze dimensional studies and quality data to identify repetitive issues, recommend defect dispositions, and review procedural documentation for compliance. Assist in training personnel on quality control techniques and GMP standards while ensuring all departments follow operating procedures. Work Monday through Saturday, including rotating shifts from 4 p.m. to 4 a.m., and cover absences as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One year of related experience and/or training
- Excellent basic math skills
- Good visual acuity
- Not color blind
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate measuring and test equipment
- Basic personal computer skills
- Ability to work well and communicate effectively with others
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and in small group situations
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry and trigonometry
- Ability to perform basic computer functions and use various software applications in the QA department
- Ability to generate and format documents, tables and charts using MS Word and Excel
- Ability to analyze data and report the results logically and draw recommendations from the data
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
