Job Summary
Lead QA technician role onsite in Birmingham supporting the QA Supervisor, supervise QA Technicians, provide on-the-job training for lab equipment and tasks, and coordinate QA activities. Responsibilities include communicating quality issues to management, establishing dispositions for holds, preparing reports on findings, monitoring supplies and samples, coordinating with production staff on batching records, providing technical solutions for production and customer-related issues, assisting in training, ensuring records and COAs are complete, and ensuring compliance with FSMA, GMP, SQF, and related policies. Requires leadership, strong verbal/written communication, and proficiency with QA tooling and data analysis; proficiency with RedZone, AS400, JDE, Kronos, and Microsoft Office; willingness to gain HACCP certification and to identify and report food safety concerns. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry or equivalent experience
- 5-10 years of experience in a food manufacturing lab environment
- Food manufacturing lab environment experience in fats and oils preferred
- Willingness to develop knowledge of margarine/shortening technology and obtain HACCP certification
- Leadership skills and excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Computer literate including experience with AS400, JDE, RedZone, Kronos, and Microsoft Office Suite
