QA/QC Technician

Job Summary
Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific Quality Assurance/Quality Control plans and procedures for mechanical construction projects. Lead preparatory, initial, and follow-up inspections across all work phases, overseeing site audits to verify workmanship and material compliance with codes such as ASME, IPC, UPC, and NFPA. Manage on-site quality teams, coordinate third-party testing agencies, and ensure all pressure tests, leak tests, and system startups are performed and documented correctly. Maintain detailed records including inspection reports, non-conformance reports, and deficiency logs while tracking corrective actions to completion. Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors to resolve quality issues, leading weekly QC meetings and providing performance reports to management and clients. Requires 5-10+ years of experience in construction quality management with a background in mechanical systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience
- 5-10+ years of progressive experience in construction quality management
- strong background in mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, process piping)
- Current or previous certifications such as Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or ASNT Level II or III in NDE methods (RT, UT, MT, PT, VT)
- Advanced knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASME, IPC, UPC, NFPA, AWS, SMACNA)
- ability to interpret design drawings and specifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, ACC, etc)
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
- working on active construction sites in varying weather conditions
